Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul met for the first time in Miami as they faced off ahead of their controversial heavyweight showdown next month
Anthony Joshua vowed to hurt Jake Paul as the fighters faced off for the first time.
Joshua will take on Paul in Miami on December 19 in a controversial heavyweight fight. The Brit has not fought since he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois at Wembley 14 months ago but sees a clash with Paul as a warm-up for a clash with Tyson Fury next year.
And he promised to make short work of Paul. “I’m going to break his face and break his body,” he said. “I’m here to prove I’m the better fighter and will do that until I stop fighting. My focus is on Jake Paul. I’m going to go in there and do a job. I want to hurt him. I’m going to want to really hurt him in the ring.”
Paul, meanwhile, insisted he is confident he can defeat Joshua despite the gulf in class. “No one ever thought that this would be possible, that we would be here when I first started boxing,” he said. “No one thinks I’m going to win… so join the list and be ready to be shocked,” he said. “I know that I have the power and the timing. It’s the shots you don’t see coming, and I’m a tricky knockout artist.. he has to be careful.”
