Anthony Joshua's Extraordinary Weight-Gain Days After Jake Paul KO Win

Anthony Joshua stunned boxing fans on Wednesday when he showed off a new physique just days after he obliterated Jake Paul with a fifth-round knockout win in which he dropped the internet sensation four times at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

Though Paul did remarkably well in the opening rounds, largely by attempting to frustrate the bigger and more powerful Joshua be adhering to a hit-and-don’t-get-hit strategy and using the full scale of the oversized ring, the American eventually gassed, and Joshua took over. Once that happened, the result was a foregone conclusion.

In the build-up to the bout, Paul tried to secure any advantage he could get — even if it was a small one, like making it mandatory for Joshua to weigh 245 pounds despite the fight taking place at heavyweight. Now that he’s been able to rehydrate and get back to his natural weight, the British slugger’s new physique is a sight to behold.

In the photographs you can see below, it’s clear that Joshua has a far more hulking physique when at his natural weight of 260 pounds and above — 16.6 pounds more than what he weighed in at the Netflix event last week. You can see his extraordinary change right here:

It appears likely that Joshua will maintain that physique in the months and year ahead as he prepares for the next stage in his career. In spring 2026, he is linked with another crossover type fight, against kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven, most probably taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He will fight Verhoeven around the same time as his career-long rival Tyson Fury returns to the ring for a tune-up, against an undetermined opponent, and, later in the year, the Battle of Britain between Joshua and Fury could finally take place, presumably at Wembley Stadium in London, before one, or both fighters, disappear into retirement together.

Should Joshua win both of those fights and call the curtain down on his career, he’d leave the sport with a pro record of 31 (28 KOs) against four defeats.
