Arman Tsarukyan Urges Dana White to Release Paddy Pimblett After UFC 324
The UFC 324 fight in Las Vegas didn’t disappoint fight fans as the epic headlining contest between lightweight’s Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje and Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett produced a five-round barnstormer with the former emerging victorious. A unanimous decision verdict for the American saw him clinch the interim lightweight championship for the second time in a brutal tussle with the British fighter.
Veteran Gaethje, 38 years old, had Paddy in trouble from round one with the Liverpudlian’s face notably marked up inside the opening five minutes. The American would go on to record scores of 48-47, 49-46, and 49-46 from the judges and set up a potential showdown with current UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.
While many have shown appreciation and respect towards the effort made by Paddy Pimblett, there have been voices from within UFC who have been less than complimentary.
UFC Fighters Not Impressed With Paddy Pimblett’s UFC 324 Showing
Champion Topuria was quick to taunt the British fighter by calling him a ‘little sausage’, adding: “You were going to get rich if you won.” Topuria also threw shade towards Gaethje by telling the American that he was ‘screwed, no matter what’ when the pair eventually meet for an expected unification title fight.
Another fighter even went as far as to say that Pimblett should be CUT from the UFC promotion altogether. The fighter’s comments come in the wake of the contest between Gaethje and Pimblett having been called a potential ‘Fight of the Year’ contender and the event bringing in record viewership from the UFC’s debut on Paramount +, so who exactly is the individual that would like to see Paddy Pimblett take a break?
It’s revealed to be none other than Arman Tsarukyan. The Armenian fighter watched from cageside as the brutal contest played out between Gaethje and Pimblett, with him concluding that Paddy’s performance was so bad that he should no longer be part of the top billing.
“He needs to take a break for five-six years after that fight,” he told Ariel Helwani in a recent interview.
Why Arman Tsarukyan Doesn’t Like Paddy Pimblett
Tsarukyan possibly has ulterior motives for such harsh comments, given that he was snubbed in a bid to face Gaethje, despite ranking higher than Pimblett. A recent victory over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar, who was ranked higher than the previous opponents of Gaethje and Pimblett respectively, was not enough to land the Armenian a shot at the interim belt. The British fighter claimed earlier this month that he enjoys ‘laughing’ at top contender Tsarukyan.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Tsarukyan didn’t hold back in his assessment of Paddy Pimblett’s skill set. “It was so bad for his brain, he was already stupid, now he’s going to be crazy, even crazier… I was like to the UFC ‘cut him now,’ this bulls*** guy. He’s the worst UFC fighter… Bro, he’s so bad, like this trash can, he’s a zero fighter.”
