Arsenal 'Preparing Bid' to Sign Real Madrid Star Rodrygo in January

Arsenal are preparing a surprise bid to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo in the January transfer window, according to claims from CaughtOffside.

The North London side are reportedly looking to capitalise on the Brazilian forward’s uncertain situation in the Spanish capital, with Rodrygo considering a departure from Real amid limited playing time under Xabi Alonso.

Several Premier League clubs are aware of the forward’s potential availability in the new year, with both Arsenal and Liverpool said to be closely monitoring developments.

Rodrygo has played just 342 minutes of La Liga football for Real this season, alongside 104 minutes in the Champions League.

According to CaughtOffside, Real Madrid are ready to listen to serious offers for Rodrygo amid his sporadic playing time this campaign.

The Spanish club has reportedly told interested parties they would consider letting Rodrygo go, provided the bid is high enough.

Real are said to be seeking around €90m for the ‘superstar’ Brazilian, who is believed to be earning roughly £350,000 per week on a contract running until June 2028.

Arsenal and Liverpool are reported to be leading the chase for Rodrygo, with the Gunners looking to add depth to Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.

A move for Rodrygo would represent another high-profile signing for Arsenal in recent months, following the arrivals of Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners, who secured a 2-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday, are five points clear at the top of the Premier League table after 14 games.

Rodrygo Needs to Revive His Career

Since Kylian Mbappe arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, Rodrygo has often operated in the shadow of the France superstar.

The Brazilian forward is yet to score in 16 appearances for Los Blancos this season, with his last La Liga goal coming back in January.

A move away from the Santiago Bernabeu could provide Rodrygo with the fresh start he needs to revive his career, though it remains to be seen if Arsenal’s reported interest will materialise into a formal offer in January
