A January transfer window opportunity looks to have emerged for Mikel Arteta’s Premier League title-chasers Arsenal, after updates on Marc Guehi and Igor Tyjon emerged

Arsenal looked set for a quiet January transfer window after spending roughly £250million this past summer. Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga were all brought in permanently ahead of the 2025/26 season with Piero Hincapie later joining on loan.

The strength of recruitment from sporting director Andrea Berta has been shown by the Gunners’ league position and as such, unique market opportunities would likely be the only reason for winter window additions.

Antoine Semenyo’s £65million Bournemouth release clause was certainly one of those and as a boyhood Gunners fan, would have likely opted for an Emirates Stadium switch. However, Manchester City have won the race for his signature.

Pep Guardiola’s side are also interested in Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi after a defensive injury crisis, though Arsenal now look to be in the race following Oliver Glasner’s honest admission about his future. Alongside strengthening the senior squad, Arsenal are also keen to make major improvements to their academy.

Blackburn Rovers’ 18-year-old forward Igor Tyjon has emerged as key target with steps taken to sign him after he rejected a new contract at Ewood Park. With all of that being said, Mirror Football have rounded up the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours.

Arsenal join Guehi race

The Mirror understands that Arsenal are ready to enter the January transfer race for Guehi. The England international has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich before Man City made their intentions clear.

There was an admiration for Guehi from north London last summer before a decision was made to sign Cristhian Mosquera instead. However, those at the club are still high on Guehi but it remains to be seen whether or not the Gunners would make a move or wait until the summer when his contract expires.

This major development comes following an honest admission from Oliver Glasner about whether or not Palace would sell Guehi this month.

He said: “I’m not naive. If a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen. If you’re just valuing sports, everyone in the club will say Marc has to stay. The chairman will tell you the same. But it’s not one-dimensional. If you see the financial situation, it’s very important.

“If somebody comes, there will be a moment when the club says ‘now the financial issue is more important than the sports issue’.

“There will be a threshold where the club has to say it will happen – as long as Marc says ‘I want to leave’, because the final decision is always with the player.”

Tyjon ‘bids submitted’

Arsenal have already seen several bids for Igor Tyjon rejected by Blackburn Rovers.

The Gunners have been keen on signing the teenage striker, who can also play on the left, since last summer with The Sun claiming that a number of bids in excess of £1million were turned down.

That has not resulted in Arsenal giving up though, with the latest claims being that they are still tracking the England U18s star.

Tyjon looks set to move on soon though, having turned down a professional contract to remain at Ewood Park, with Blackburn resigned to losing him.
