Aston Villa are interested in signing Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta while the Eagles are keen on Evann Guessand from the Midlands club, according to David Ornstein.

Mateta’s future appears uncertain at the moment, with his current contract having less than 18 months remaining on it. It’s all change at Selhurst Park at the moment, with Oliver Glasner announcing that he’s going to be leaving the club at the end of the season, while Marc Guehi recently completed a move to Manchester City.

Aston Villa are in the market for new additions in the final third after it was confirmed that Donyell Malen had joined Italian side Roma. GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Villa are in advanced talks to sign striker Tammy Abraham, but it appears they have been in touch about a host of different options.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Aston Villa have expressed an interest in signing Crystal Palace striker Mateta, while the Eagles are evaluating a move for Villa forward Guessand. Palace have previously been keen on Guessand, eyeing the forward before his move to Villa.

Villa are in the market for a new striker, with Ornstein suggesting that they are looking for alternatives for Abraham. Ornstein claims that negotiations with Besiktas, who have Abraham on loan, are complex, so the Villans are looking at other options in case a move for the English forward doesn’t go through.

Villa have been looking to sign a midfielder in the winter window, with GIVEMESPORT sources confirming that they were advancing in talks to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid. The England international later signed for Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal, sending Villa back to the drawing board.

News has now broken that Boubacar Kamara, who suffered an injury against Spurs earlier this month, has been ruled out for the season due to a knee problem. As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Emery’s side step up their pursuit of a new midfielder in the coming days and weeks.
