Aston Villa plotting club-record move to sign perfect Tammy Abraham partner
Aston Villa has been the home to numerous attacking talents over the years, with many of which helping Unai Emery transform the club and helping them reach the next level under his guidance.
The Spaniard has made the Villans consistent Premier League top four challengers, even helping them secure various European campaigns, which have given the fans memories to last a lifetime.
Striker Ollie Watkins has played a crucial role in such a success, as seen by his tally of 60 goals across all competitions throughout the last three full campaigns.
He’s often been partnered by Morgan Rogers, with the £8m addition exceeding all expectations in the West Midlands, as seen by his tally of 25 goals and 20 assists in his 101 appearances at Villa Park.
However, with the January window still open, it has presented the manager and the hierarchy with the perfect opportunity to further improve the squad to help secure yet another season of European football.
Aston Villa need a club-record fee to land European star
Over the last couple of days, Villa have made a beeline for the signature of Tammy Abraham, with a move now expected to go through for the English striker.
It was confirmed that Emery’s men had agreed a £18m deal with Besiktas to land the striker, who’s already netted seven league goals throughout 2025/26.
The 28-year-old is now in the West Midlands having his medical ahead of a four-and-a-half year deal, with just the formal announcement left until the move is confirmed.
However, other options are still being considered by the hierarchy within the final third of the pitch, as seen with their move to land RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Villa have been closely monitoring the 19-year-old’s tally, after netting six goals in his first 16 Bundesliga outings this campaign.
The report states that they won’t be alone in the pursuit of his signature, with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all currently interested.
However, any deal would be a club-record one for Emery’s men, with his current employers demanding a fee in the region of €100m (£86m) to part ways with him in the near future.
Why Diomande would be perfect for Abraham at Villa
As previously mentioned, a deal to land Abraham now appears as good as done for Villa, with the Englishman providing another excellent option in the final third.
The 28-year-old will return for a second stint at Villa Park, after previously spending the 2018/19 season on loan in the West Midlands during the club’s stint in the Championship.
Such a period was one of the best in the talisman’s career to date, as he found the net 26 times in just 40 appearances – including four in one game against Nottingham Forest.
Abraham has since found the back of the net in the Premier League, Serie A and the Süper Lig, now boasting a superb CV at the very top level of European football.
It remains to be seen if the soon-to-be signing will be a regular starter or a backup option, but it’s certain that any move for Diomande would massively aid his chances of success.
The Ivorian may be a young talent, but he’s already endured a phenomenal start to his career, as seen by his incredible goal tally in Germany’s top-flight this campaign.
Diomande, who’s been dubbed “phenomenal” by Kevin Hatchard, has also registered 1.3 shots on target, with a current accuracy rate of 56% so far this campaign.
The aforementioned figures showcase his talent in front of goal, with both of the tallies currently ranking him within the top 15% of all attackers in the division.
However, his creativity has also caught the eye in recent weeks, as seen by his tally of 1.8 changes created per 90 and 85% passes completed in 2025/26.

Such numbers would no doubt hand Abraham the tools he needs for success, with the pair able to link up and take the side to the next level in the Premier League.
Diomande’s talents are further reflected in his impressive tallies of 3.9 dribbles per 90 at a success rate of 56% – with both the highest of any player in Germany’s top-flight.
All the aforementioned figures highlight his phenomenal ability with the ball at his feet, which no doubt has led to his mammoth asking price of £86m this window.
However, given the interest from other teams in the division, Emery and the hierarchy will have to work tirelessly to avoid missing out on one of Europe’s hottest properties.
There’s no doubt that any move for the youngster would aid Abraham in his quest for success at Villa Park again, with the pair able to massively increase the chances of another Champions League tour next season.
