Atletico Madrid director Mateu Alemany warns Roma and Lazio that Giacomo Raspadori is in no rush to leave. ‘There’s nothing more to it.’
The forward only made the transfer from Scudetto winners Napoli over the summer for €22m plus performance-related bonuses.
He has struggled for regular playing time in Spain, but still contributed two goals and three assists in 15 competitive games, even if he only started four of them.
“Raspadori is a very important player in Italy, he is a regular for the national team,” Atletico Madrid director of sport Alemany told Diario AS.
“It’s true that he hasn’t had a lot of playing time so far, and it’s therefore understandable that clubs in Italy have him in mind, but there’s nothing more to it. “We believe he contributes a lot to the squad, he works really hard, and as the coach said, we are for now staying relaxed on the situation.”
Raspadori is also believed to be in no real rush to leave Atletico Madrid without making his mark in LaLiga.
Roma are the most determined to sign the Italy international, and have been pressuring him to make a decision sooner rather than later.
There were further reports today of Giallorossi staff contacting the player to push him for an agreement to work with coach Gian Piero Gasperini at the Stadio Olimpico.
Lazio are also believed to be interested in snapping up Raspadori in the January transfer window, with the promise of regular playing time. “The team is complete and making improvements in January is very difficult,” added the Atleti director.
“It’s a hostile market, everyone finds it hard to release good players, because they know how hard it is to find suitable replacements.
“We expect it to be a window with very few moves and we’re not in a rush for any situation.”
