Man Utd Eyeing Move to Sign Yan Diomande

Ruben Amorim can surely feel let down after what he saw from his Manchester United side against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite facing a side who went into the match with just two points, the Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw against Rob Edwards’ side at Old Trafford as the strugglers earned a hard-fought point.

Man United were clear favourites going into the game, but on the balance of play, a draw was probably fair with Wolves looking equally likely to find a winning goal at times. However, with the quality that Amorim has at his disposal, he’ll be disappointed that his stars didn’t rise to the challenge.

While Matheus Cunha struggled against his old club and numerous other Manchester United stars failed to impress, Benjamin Sesko was perhaps the most disappointing performer on the night.

Earning £200,000 a week, the Slovenian forward looking promising in the early stages of the match but failed to make his influence felt with a lack of potency in front of goal.

In truth, Sesko had the chance to be a match-winner. He had eight touches in the opposition penalty area, six shots, four shots on target and hit the woodwork once, so the fact that the 22-year-old didn’t find the back of the net is pretty crazy.

Amorim Must Get The Best From Sesko

Sesko’s missed chances ultimately contributed to Man United not winning the game, but it’s unfair to pin the blame on him entirely. The fact that the 22-year-old was in the right position to carve out those chances proves that he is doing something right.

As Man United’s clearest goalscoring threat, Ruben Amorim simply has to find a way to play to his strengths more. Sesko won just three of 10 ground duels, while winning one of two aerial duels. His game is based on aerial play and so the Red Devils have to adapt their build-up play to supply him in that way.

Sesko has just three goals in 16 games for Man United and that’s simply not good enough. That said, there’s no doubting that the forward is a quality player and if Man United want to get the best out of him, they simply have to play to his strengths.

At 22 years of age he has the opportunity to lead the line for the club for many years to come, but that success will hinge on the team being built around him.
