In what could prove to be another cagey Serie A showdown on Sunday lunchtime, Lecce will welcome Parma to the Stadio Via del Mare.

Starting with the hosts, only just about dragging themselves over the finishing line last season as they clung to their Serie A status, Lecce are simply hoping for smoother sailing this time around. However, despite securing a 1-0 victory against Pisa on December 12th, the Wolves have once again shown some rather glaring inconstancies. Last seen earlier in the week putting in another downbeat display as they fell to a routine 2-0 loss at home against Italian heavyweight Roma, Eusebio Di Francesco’s men have registered just a sole win from any of their previous five Serie A appearances. Signing off 2025 with a nightmare 3-0 drumming at the hands of European dreamers Como, the Apulia-based outfit are once again looking over their shoulder at another looming relegation scrap this year. Watching their Copa Italia adventure come to an end on September 23rd as they fell to another 3-0 defeat against AC Milan, Lecce have also shown plenty of attacking struggles. Along with recording just a sole strike in their previous three outings, Di Francesco’s side have also bagged just a pair of goals in over 520 minutes of action.

As for the visitors, despite signing off 2025 with a 1-0 win at home against a Fiorentina squad who find themselves at the heart of an infamous Serie A rut, Parma are in an almost identical position to Sunday’s opponents. Last seen earlier in the week falling to their own routine 2-0 loss at home against Inter Milan, the Crusaders simply have their sights set on maintaining their top-flight status this year. However, winning just a pair of their previous seven appearances across all competitions, Carlos Cuesta’s side have also shown some worrying attacking issues. Including a fiery 1-0 defeat against Lazio on December 13th, Parma have failed to record more than a single strike in any of those seven consecutive showdowns. Desperate to find some essential stability, Cuesta’s inconsistent squad should also be concerned by their most recent battle against Lecce. Falling to a shock 1-0 loss when they welcomed the Wolves to Emilia-Romagna for their reverse Serie A matchup on October 4th.
