Match Preview for Bodo/Glimt vs Manchester City

Still searching for their first win of the Champions League campaign, Bodo/Glimt will welcome Manchester City to Aspmyra Stadion on Tuesday evening.

The Norwegian side have drawn three and lost three of their six league-phase fixtures so far, while Manchester City arrive having won four, drawn one and lost one of their six matches.

Bodo/Glimt qualified for the Champions League league phase for the first time in their history ahead of the 2025-26 season, but Kjetil Knutsen’s side have found the step up challenging.

The Superlaget sit 32nd in the standings with just three points from six matches, making them one of only four teams yet to record a victory in the league phase. As a result, they trail the top 24 by four points and likely need maximum points from their remaining fixtures to have any chance of reaching the knockout rounds.

Manchester City have already played six competitive fixtures in 2026 and have struggled for consistency. Pep Guardiola’s side have managed just two wins in that spell, alongside three draws and a defeat, with one victory coming against League One opposition in the FA Cup.

Guardiola will hope a return to Champions League action provides a reset. The Citizens have been far more reliable in Europe this season and remain firmly in the hunt for a top-eight finish.

Team news for Bodo/Glimt v Manchester City

Bodo/Glimt will again be without Jostein Gundersen, who serves the final match of a suspension picked up following his red card against Monaco in November.

Haitam Aleesami is also sidelined with a hamstring injury, which is likely to see Odin Luras Bjortuft partner Villads Nielsen in central defence.

Jens Petter Hauge has been a bright spark in Europe, scoring three goals in six league-phase appearances, and will again be relied upon to provide attacking threat.

Manchester City travel with a lengthy injury and suspension list. Josko Gvardiol, John Stones, Oscar Bobb, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Dias, Nico Gonzalez, Savinho, Matheus Nunes, Bernardo Silva, Kalvin Phillips and Omar Marmoush are all unavailable, while Phil Foden remains a doubt.

Antoine Semenyo is also ineligible for the league phase after joining the club during the January window.

Manchester City’s recent domestic form leaves some room for doubt, but their Champions League performances have been far more convincing.

Given Bodo/Glimt’s struggles at this level and City’s strong European record, the visitors should have enough quality to secure a comfortable away victory in Norway.
