Boxing Fans Fear Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua Fight Will be Canceled After Latest News
Fans fear that the upcoming heavyweight fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua could be canceled after the latest boxing news.
The internet sensation Paul, and former two-time heavyweight king Joshua, sent social media into a spiral when they confirmed last month that they’ll fight, for real, atop a Most Valuable Promotions card that Netflix will air on the 19th of December at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
The British slugger posted significant wins over Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, and Alexander Povetkin during a gauntlet run amongst boxing’s big men, and is a markedly different opponent, in an officially-sanctioned contest, than Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, who Paul was initially supposed to compete alongside in an exhibition, last month. MVP, though, nixed that show after civil allegations against Davis accused him of wrongdoing.
Before that show got canceled, the Georgia State Athletic Commission blasted Paul and MVP for promoting something they shouldn’t have been, which saw organizers pull the plug on an event at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and they put the whole thing in Miami, instead.
Now, a social media post from Paul has sent fans into uproar once again, as boxing supporters believe the fight with AJ could now be heading for the chopping block, too.

Boxing Fans Fear Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua Fight Cancelation
Speaking Monday, Paul said on X, formerly Twitter, that he’ll make a massive announcement. “Major update,” he said.
“Had to be done. Is what it is.”
It’s important to note that Paul did not give any context as to what the announcement could be about, especially as he operates in multiple sectors regardless of whether that’s boxing, podcasting and YouTube, sports betting, and retail. It would also not be out of the realm of possibilities that a successful influencer like Paul knows how to maximize attention with a “less-is-more” posting strategy that could be interpreted by boxing fans as disastrous, particularly if they insinuate meaning into the cancellation of the Joshua fight.
Fans Reacted in a Similar Way
Many posters seemed to react in a similar way, with fans flooding his replies. One poster said: “Just tell us you’re dropping out already, bro.” Another account said this, under Paul’s post: “Oh god, fight cancelled.”
The quote-tweets were similar. One person said: “Jake has realized there’s levels to boxing and will give an excuse for the fight being cancelled.” Spinning Backfist, which is a big combat account affiliated to Barstool Sports, posted: “Fights off or crypto scam. Which is it?”
Interestingly, Polymarket — a prediction market platform — suggested a 91% likelihood rating of the Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua fight happening in 2025 before Paul posted his comment on X.
But that rate dropped to 72% at the time GIVE ME SPORT published this story, and it could decline even further in the hours ahead.
