Tech experts have issued a stark warning to boxing fans considering illegal streaming of this Saturday’s heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The warning specifically targets those planning to use Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and fire sticks to watch the bout illegally.

The fight will see Fury attempt to reclaim the WBC crown he lost to current heavyweight champion Usyk via split decision in May.

The highly anticipated bout will be available to UK viewers through several official channels.

Sky Sports Box Office will broadcast the fight for £24.99.

Fans can also access the event through discovery+ and Prime Video platforms.

The warning comes as authorities note a rise in IPTV usage, which allows illegal streaming through broadband services, amid increasing subscription costs for major sporting events.

The risks of illegal streaming were highlighted by a recent court case in Liverpool.

A 29-year-old man received a custodial sentence in November for loading and watching illicit streams on Firesticks.

Liverpool Crown Court heard how the man had reconfigured devices to illegally stream Premier League matches.

He was handed a concurrent sentence for accessing and viewing the content he was supplying.

Kieron Sharp, CEO of FACT, said: “Choosing to bypass official channels to watch the highly anticipated Fury vs Usyk fight this Saturday isn’t just risky – it’s illegal and can expose you to serious dangers.”

He warned that illegal streaming could lead to malware infections, financial theft and compromise of personal data, including emails, photos and browsing history.

Sharp noted that fraudsters specifically target viewers during high-profile events.

BeStreamWise emphasised its commitment to educating consumers about safe viewing options for their favourite content.

“Boxing fans should enjoy the fight offered by official providers, rather than facing the risks of being a target to criminal operations,” Sharp added.

The warning comes as authorities continue their crackdown on illegal streaming, with several operations targeting the practice throughout the year.
