Bryce Mitchell Causes Stir With Anthony Joshua Car Crash Comments
Controversial UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell has received backlash in the wake of comments made about British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua. The Arkansas-born mixed martial artist has been blasted by many online for a video released to X that relates to the result of Joshua’s contest with YouTuber Jake Paul being responsible for the death of Joshua’s two close friends in a car accident on Monday.
Anthony Joshua’s close friends, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele, were both killed as the black Lexus that they were travelling in hit a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Nigeria. The road is known as one of the deadliest in the country, with investigators later confirming that the collision was the result of a tyre blowout on the Lexus due to excessive speed.
While Joshua remains in a stable condition during his stay at the Duchess International Hospital in Lagos, fans and well-wishers have poured in with tributes for Ghami, Ayodele, and Joshua himself as he continues to recover.
Sadly, best wishes were not the object of Bryce Mitchell’s recent video, as the UFC fighter stated: “If you don’t let Jake Paul win, he’s gonna kill you 9 days later. Or kill your best friends. Somebody is going to die if you don’t let him win.”
Fans were quick to pounce on Mitchell’s vile message, with one X user, ‘Pandito’, quoting; “Is this a joke or what?” while another, Luna, said: “I was actually waiting for the conspiracy theories, and now we have one, but this is such an insensitive thing to do.”
Others even questioned the legitimacy of the video as a possible AI creation due to the release coming after Joshua’s victory over Paul by knockout in Miami on the 19th of December.
Conspiracy theories are not unfamiliar to Mitchell as previously he has gone public with various hypotheses on various subjects. He is of the opinion that COVID-19 was manufactured in a US government lab, the earth is flat, and that Adolf Hitler was a ‘good guy.’
The video, released in the wake of the tragic loss of Anthony Joshua’s two friends, comes as the latest in a line of controversial opinions from Mitchell.
The MMA fighter’s previous remarks have been branded ‘beyond disgusting‘ by UFC CEO Dana White after it emerged that he had made the suggestion on his ArkanSanity Podcast that Hitler was a ‘good guy’ who ‘fought for his country’, in addition to denying that the Holocaust ever existed.
White commented on Mitchell’s views after the Power Slap event in Saudi Arabia back in January 2025 but made no reference to any potential disciplinary action towards him. “It’s free speech,” White said. “That’s the beautiful thing about this business. For all of you who hate Bryce Mitchell, you get to see him hopefully get his a** whooped on global television.”
By contrast, Jake Paul penned a heartfelt post to his former opponent via his social media, saying: “Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ, and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.”
