Callum Wilson in talks to leave West Ham after Taty Castellanos announcement
A West Ham United star, who Nuno dubbed “really important”, has now entered talks to exit the London Stadium this month.
Nuno looking to reshuffle squad with his job on the line
Nuno is under increasing pressure following the 3-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, with some players unconvinced by his team selections and training sessions, and Slaven Bilic would be willing to take over as manager.
Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg has even suggested the upcoming match against Nottingham Forest could be make or break for the West Ham boss.
However, the board continue to back the 51-year-old in the transfer market, and the manager recently made it clear how pleased he is with the two signings made thus far, saying: “Now, we are in a moment of rebalancing our squad. Two players came in – Taty (Castellanos) and Pablo – who I consider good options. They are players that can help and that’s the word – we need help.
The Hammers are in need of goals, having scored just 21 in 20 Premier League games this season, so Castellanos could be an exciting addition, having found the back of the net ten times in the Serie A during the 2024-25 campaign.
However, following the Argentinian’s arrival, a different striker has now entered talks to leave West Ham, namely Callum Wilson, as reported by The Athletic, with the report stating the Englishman could leave this month, just five months after arriving at the London Stadium.
Niclas Fullkrug has already departed the Irons, joining AC Milan on loan, and Wilson could be the next forward out the door, with the board planning to stick by Nuno and help their manager reshuffle the squad.
Letting “really important” Wilson leave could be mistake
Nuno described the 33-year-old as “really important” earlier this season, and he has managed to deliver at times, picking up four goals and one assist in the Premier League since arriving on a free transfer from Newcastle United.
Crucially, the £50k-a-week forward has plenty of experience in the Premier League, scoring 92 goals in 256 appearances, while the Hammers’ new additions have never played in England.
Pablo has only just turned 22, and the striker is unproven outside Portugal, so there are major question marks over whether he will be able to fire West Ham to safety.

There has been a new update on the Hammers’ pursuit of a defender.
That said, Nuno may need to roll the dice, given that his side are four points from safety, having lost four of their last five Premier League games, and Wilson didn’t pull up any trees last time out, failing to score as West Ham suffered a heavy defeat at Molineux.
