Sport Mediaset reports that Inter have an agreement in principle with Al-Hilal for Joao Cancelo’s six-month loan, but the Portuguese defender is waiting for an offer from Barcelona.
Serie A giants Inter have a principle of agreement with Al-Hilal to bring Cancelo to San Siro on a six-month loan, according to Sport Mediaset.
The Italian broadcasters confirm that Al-Hilal have agreed to pay part of Cancelo’s salary in the second part of the campaign, as the Nerazzurri, like most European clubs, can’t afford his €15m-a-year wages, plus add-ons.
Sport Mediaset adds that Inter could even send Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij to Al-Hilal, as Simone Inzaghi would be glad to reunite with the Nerazzurri defenders.
According to the report, Inter are now in talks with Cancelo as they want to convince him to return to San Siro despite interest from other clubs, especially Barcelona. Cancelo has been frozen out of the Al-Hilal team after falling out with Inzaghi, so the ex-Inter and Juventus defender will leave the Saudi giants this month.
Juventus have also enquired about Cancelo, while Barcelona are interested but have not yet made a formal proposal. Therefore, even if the 31-year-old defender is said to be tempted to return to Camp Nou, his January move to Inter remains a concrete option.
