Casemiro Has Offer to Leave Man Utd in January After Ruben Amorim Sack
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has a long-term contract offer on the table from Palmeiras to leave the club this month, according to Fichajes.
The Brazil international joined the club in a £60m deal from Real Madrid in 2022 and has been a regular in the club’s midfield ever since, but his contract at Old Trafford is set to expire this summer, which has raised some question marks over his future at the club.
After Ruben Amorim was sacked as manager this week, it’s unclear if the club plan to keep him around beyond this season, and he has now been offered an escape route back to his home nation.
Palmeiras Offer Casemiro Long-Term Contract
Casemiro, who has been described as ‘world-class’, is unsure of his future at Old Trafford and whether he will fit into the plans of any new manager who takes over for the second half of this season and beyond.
It has now emerged that Brazilian club Palmeiras have put a two-year contract on the table to convince him to depart the club and return to his homeland, with club bosses believing his time in the Premier League is coming to an end. They also feel that offering him two years, rather than one, could convince him to choose them.
Casemiro’s current deal expires in June 2026, allowing foreign clubs to speak to him without the permission of Man Utd. It’s currently unclear if the Red Devils plan to offer him a new contract, although talks have taken place about an extension on reduced terms.
The player is yet to make a decision on his future, and a January move seems very unlikely, but if Man Utd opt against making him a new offer then he could well make the switch to Palmeiras.
Casemiro Experience Could Be Pivotal
With the team struggling and inconsistent so far this season, sometimes experience can prove to be vital in big moments, and there aren’t many players in the squad who have more experience in big moments than the Brazilian.
Losing him mid-season would arguably be a catastrophic blow to their chances of qualifying for the Champions League, but also losing him from the squad entirely next season would probably not be beneficial.
United want to bring in some new midfielders in the summer if all goes to plan, but having Casemiro as an option to call upon at different points would help with the balance of the team and also give whoever the manager is some options, so the club should think carefully before they let him leave.
