Celtic have now reportedly launched an approach to sign a Premier League attacker on loan this month, who Pep Guardiola loves.

The Bhoys have endured a difficult month on the transfer front, but did manage to secure Tomas Cvancara before their crucial game against Hearts this weekend.

After securing the towering striker on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, Martin O’Neill will hope to finally have a solution for Celtic’s frustrating attacking problems.

The veteran manager told the club website: “We are delighted to welcome Tomáš to the club, we believe he has some real qualities and we think he will be an important addition to the squad going forward.”

Cvancara, meanwhile, expressed similar delight – saying: “It’s a massive honour to sign for this club. I am so excited to get started and make my own contribution to the team.

“We have lots of challenges ahead of us and I am ready to get going and do everything I can to meet these and bring success to our brilliant supporters. Celtic is one of the great names in world football and I am delighted to be here to play my part.”

The Hoops are set to miss out.

Whether the new man will be straight in against Hearts remains to be seen, but it would certainly be a fine way to become an instant hero in Glasgow.

Victory would take the Hoops to within three points of the Scottish Premiership leaders, setting up a frantic final few months of the campaign.

That is why those in Scotland will feel that more signings are absolutely necessary before the end of the month, amid recent links with Datro Fofana and an impressive Premier League youngster.

Celtic launch approach to sign Mukasa

As reported by Celtic Way, Celtic have launched an approach to sign Divine Mukasa on loan from Manchester City, only for the Citizens to decline that approach in swift fashion.

Guardiola is reportedly a huge fan of the 18-year-old attacker and is keen to keep hold of him this month, rather than send him out on loan to Scotland.

Mukasa’s record at youth level speaks for itself and drew praise from U23 scout Antonio Mango, who dubbed the attacking midfielder “unique” last November.

Now, he’s ready for first-team minutes even if that does not come at Celtic. Of course, the Bhoys already had one City talent on loan earlier in the campaign in Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and that far from worked out.

City’s rejection could be down to concerns of a repeat and that’s the last thing they want for their promising young stars this season.
