Chris Sutton Reveals Who is to Blame at Celtic After Fourth Straight Defeat

Celtic must sack Wilfried Nancy as soon as possible and bring back Martin O’Neill as manager to save their season.

The Hoops were well beaten by fierce rivals Rangers at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon despite taking the lead in the first-half, as Youssef Chermiti scored twice and Mikey Moore completed the comeback for the visitors.

That defeat means Nancy has now lost six of his eight games in charge of the club, including the Scottish League Cup final against St Mirren and games against Rangers and Hearts, leaving Celtic six points off the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Nancy Has Killed Celtic’s Season

It has been a difficult season in Glasgow, but Celtic were very much still in the mix for silverware when Brendan Rodgers fell out with the board and offered his resignation as manager.

Nancy has come in after a prolonged search to replace him, and he has really struggled. A switch to a 3-4-3 system has thrown results, and the team have failed to adapt. Despite dominating the first half against Rangers, they didn’t take their chances, and in the second half the team didn’t react to the changes that Danny Rohl’s side made, and they were eventually overrun.

It’s been a running theme in games so far, and with fans now firmly against the manager, it’s time for the board to admit their mistake and simply bring an end to this ridiculous tenure.

It’s evident that the players don’t believe in him, the fans can’t wait to see the back of him, and his face at the end of the game suggests he had absolutely no idea what he was letting himself in for when he agreed to step into the job mid-season.

Celtic Must Bring Martin O’Neill Back

Between Rodgers and Nancy, Celtic’s season found some stability with Martin O’Neill at the helm. The appointment of the 73-year-old was always seen as a temporary measure, largely because of how much Rodgers’ departure came as a surprise.

But while the search was ongoing, O’Neill managed seven wins and one draw in eight games in charge and that should have been enough to try and convince the legendary boss to stay until the end of the season, before revisiting the situation in the summer from a better shortlist.

The Irishman built a rapport with the players, with Luke McGowan describing him as “unbelievable”, and he had built momentum too heading into the second half of the season.

That is all gone now, but bringing O’Neill back into the club would provide the platform for him to boost it once again, while also saving the club’s season once more.

The board must admit their mistake, sack Nancy and do everything they can to bring O’Neill back as soon as possible, or face the wrath of the fans and media for their nonsense.
