Chelsea now leading race to sign Fisnik Asllani with bargain deal possible
Chelsea are now leading the race to sign a “superb” striker, who has a bargain release clause, and a move is now in the works.
Blues keen on new striker despite Pedro’s encouraging form
Liam Delap hasn’t exactly been prolific in front of goal since arriving from Ipswich Town in the summer, finding the net just once in the Premier League, which means Joao Pedro has been leading the line in recent weeks.
The Brazilian has been in fantastic form, scoring in his last two Premier League outings, most recently bagging the Blues’ second goal in the 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Not only was Liam Rosenior impressed by the 24-year-old getting on the scoresheet, but he was also pleased with his all-round display, saying: “It wasn’t just his goal [that pleased me], it was his performance. We went a little bit more direct to take Brentford off the press early in the game and he won every duel. He was outstanding.”
Rosenior also added: “I’m really, really excited to work with him, Liam and Marc (Guiu) as my strikers.”
However, despite the Englishman having a number of options at centre-forward, Chelsea have now set out to sign another striker, according to a report from Spain, which states BlueCo are preparing a move for Hoffenheim star Fisnik Asllani.
Asllani would be an affordable option for the Blues, given that there is a €30m (£26m) release clause, which becomes active this summer, included in his contract, but there could be competition for his signature, with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur also keen.
However, despite the interest from elsewhere, the west Londoners are currently the frontrunners, and they are confident they will be able to convince the Kosovo international to move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea preparing £69m bid for “spectacular” star who’s now a priority target
BlueCo are keen on a new forward to lead their project.
“Superb” Asllani impressing in the Bundesliga
The 23-year-old has caught the eye with his performances in the Bundesliga this season, being lauded by scout Jacek Kulig back in October.
The Berlin-born marksman has six goals to his name in 18 Bundesliga outings, while also showcasing his ability to create chances for his teammates by chipping in with four assists.
That said, the former Austria Vienna man is going through a bit of a dry spell in front of goal, scoring just one goal in his last ten Bundesliga appearances, so there are doubts over whether he is at the level to play for a club like Chelsea.
Not only that, but with Pedro in good form, and Rosenior making it clear he is excited to work with Delap and Marc Guiu, the Blues may not need to bring in a new striker.
