Chelsea star loved by Gianfranco Zola could join Leeds in January
Leeds have dragged themselves away from the bottom three in recent weeks and 49ers Enterprises are now planning to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window.
The Whites travel to Sunderland on Sunday knowing a win would move them to 22 points before the half-way point of the season, keeping them well on track to hit that vital 40-point mark.
Daniel Farke was under considerable pressure ahead of a run of fixtures that included Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, but the emergence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin has seen Leeds pick up eight points from their last 12 available.

Despite the former Everton striker’s incredible form however, there is a feeling the side still lacks some creativity behind him, with no player registering more than two assists in the Premier League so far this season.
The 49ers group identified the problem in the summer but were unable to rectify it, trying and failing to sign the likes of
Bilal El Khannouss and Facundo Buonanotte.
Leeds were thought to be leading the race for Buonanotte at one point, but the Brighton star joined Chelsea on loan.
His move to Stamford Bridge has not worked out however, and there is now a feeling he could be on the move again in the winter window.
Leeds move could appeal to Buonanotte
Indeed, writing for The Athletic, Beren Cross believes a move to Leeds could “appeal” to the player, having played just once in the top flight so far this season.
Leeds’ interest in the summer was serious and their desire for a number ten hasn’t waned, so a deal could make sense for all parties.
Despite seemingly not making the grade under Enzo Maresca, the Argentinian, who scored five times in a loan spell at Leicester last season, has drawn praise from Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola.
“I liked him very much when he played for Brighton. “He’s one of those players who can really change a game. It will be really interesting to see how he fits in at Chelsea.
“He’s a good player and he can really have a lot of joy at Chelsea because of the way we play, so I’m really looking forward to seeing him.”
Leeds are also expected to chase another centre-forward in January, with Calvert-Lewin known to struggle with injuries during his time at Everton.
Joshua Zirkzee, who is out of favour at Manchester United, could join in a £30m move.
Leeds could sign their new Rutter in January but it’ll cost £35m
Daniel Farke could unearth his next Georginio Rutter at Leeds United by persisting with a deal for this unique attacker.
