Cole Palmer left the punditry team working on Amazon Prime’s Premier League Boxing Day coverage stunned after his brilliant solo goal for Chelsea against Fulham.

The England international has been a revelation for the Blues ever since his move from Manchester City in 2023.

He’s been their main talisman this campaign with Chelsea attempting to keep tabs with Liverpool at the top of the table.

And Palmer grabbed his 12th goal of the season in spectacular style to open the scoring for Chelsea against Fulham.

The 22-year-old picked up the ball 40 yards out of goal and skipped past a couple challenges before nonchalantly hitting a low sidefoot shot into the bottom corner and wheeling off for his trademark celebration.

The goal left pundits Dion Dublin, Tim Sherwood, Rachel Corsie and Nedum Onuoha speechless with the latter watching the game closely.

Onuoha said: “My goodness.”

“Cole Palmer, he’s so so good at finding the ball in the spaces between the midfield and the defence but look at the way he takes this on the back foot and immediately wants to try and affect the game.

“Takes it to the side, shuffles and it’s the easiest goal in the world for him.

“Oh my goodness, there’s a megs [nutmeg] in there as well.

“When players can make it look that simple, you know they’re on a different level.”

Stelling followed up by pointing to a crucial game between Chelsea and Liverpool in the final month of the season with both teams currently vying for the title.

He said: “I’ve got a date for your diary – May 3rd, Liverpool vs Chelsea.

“Who knows how significant or otherwise that will be.

“People need to stop asking if they’re contenders. We know they’re contenders and what a player Cole Palmer is.”

LATEST SPORT NEWS:

A win for Chelsea moves them just one point behind Liverpool in the table, who are in action against Leicester later in the evening.

But the match against Leicester is one of two games Liverpool have in hand over Chelsea.

Manchester City missed out on another chance to close the gap to the league leaders with a disappointing 1-1 draw with Everton.
