Colts QB Daniel Jones playing through broken bone in leg

The Colts QB is intending to push through the pain.

Daniel Jones is playing through a broken bone in his leg as his superb season with the Indianapolis Colts approaches the business end.

Jones has seen his career revitalised after signing with the Colts, the former sixth overall pick of the New York Giants leading a high-powered offense that has fuelled Indianapolis’ surge to an 8-3 record.

Through 11 games, Jones has completed 69.1 percent of his passes for 2,840 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 159 yards and five touchdowns.

Indianapolis ranks first in the NFL in total offense. The Colts also lead the league in Expected Points Added per play, a measure of explosiveness, and Success Rate (which measures how often an offense gets the required yardage on a given play).

However, Jones had his worst game of the season last Sunday, completing just 61.3 percent of his passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns as the Colts lost in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs.

And NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that Jones has a fracture in his fibula.

However, Jones is said to have practiced in full on Thursday and intends to keep playing through the injury.

The Colts face their AFC South rivals the Houston Texans and their vaunted defense on Sunday.

Sixth-round rookie Riley Leonard is the Colts’ current backup, though they also have Brett Rypien on the practice squad. Former fourth overall pick Anthony Richardson is on injured reserve with an orbital fracture, but is eligible to be activated from that list.
