Dusan Vlahovic will have surgery on the high-grade tear in his adductor muscles, but it remains unclear exactly when the Serbia international will be able to return to action for Juventus.
Vlahovic, who is into the final year of his Juventus contract, was visibly distraught when he had to come off 30 minutes into his side’s recent 2-1 Serie A victory over Cagliari.
He reported for medical checks on Monday morning, and it was confirmed later on the same day that he had suffered ‘a high-grade lesion to the muscle-tendon junction of the left adductor longus’.
“Further medical consultations will be necessary to determine the most appropriate treatment,” Juventus added in an official statement.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it has been decided that the best course of treatment is to have surgery, which is scheduled to take place in London on Thursday. Initial reports suggested that it would take a minimum of three months before Vlahovic returns, Luciano Spalletti claimed that it would be “two to three months,” but admitted that he didn’t know for certain, while Sky Sport Italia warned that the recovery process could last closer to five months.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims on Wednesday that Vlahovic could target a return to action in March.
