Craig Hope Drops Worrying Tino Livramento Newcastle Contract Update

Newcastle United could face the prospect of losing Tino Livramento as uncertainty over his contract continues.

tDescribed as being ‘unbelievable’, he right-back moved to St James’ Park in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth up to £40million and built on his reputation as one of the best young players in the country.

Since then the defender has made 93 appearances for the Magpies and emerged as one of the best players in his position in the Premier League. With three senior England caps to his name as well, it feels like the future is very bright for the 23-year-old.

The question is whether he’ll be plying his trade on Tyneside or elsewhere as he moves into his prime years.

Livramento’s future with Newcastle is unclear after he took the decision to delay talks over a new deal. According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Newcastle are keen to extend his contract and improve his package in order to secure his long-term future at the club. Livramento’s current deal expires in the summer of 2028.

However, it’s suggested that he will wait until the end of the season in order to keep his options open over his next move with Manchester City keen on a deal.

The position of Tino Livramento is far from comfortable for Newcastle United. The Magpies have a player who is arguably the best right-back in the Premier League right now, but they could be powerless to losing him.

Next summer he’ll have two years left on his contract and that could be Howe’s last chance to get top dollar for his services, should they decide to sell.

The temptation of joining Man City and challenging for the biggest honours in the game is hugely appealing. For Livramento, he has to decide whether Newcastle can offer him the same opportunity or not. As a result, it’s essential that Newcastle at least qualify for next season’s Champions League. If they don’t, it won’t be a surprise to see the 23-year-old move on in order to make that step to a truly elite club.

If they can’t convince him to stay, a deal to sell Livramento won’t be cheap but in a world where PSR seemingly rules all, Newcastle could be powerless but to cash in on one of their most prized assets.
