Cristian Romero admits Tottenham are in a ‘disaster moment’ amid reports Frank could be sacked

Cristian Romero admitted Tottenham are in a “disaster moment” following yesterday’s defeat to West Ham, a result that has prompted reports the club are considering the future of head coach Thomas Frank.

Spurs lost 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to a Hammers side that registered their first Premier League win since early November.

Romero, who netted his side’s equaliser but was powerless to prevent Callum Wilson from scoring an injury-time winner for the visitors, conceded it was a devastating blow for Spurs.

He told the Press Association: “Obviously another lost game at home, for me only one message for the fans, thank you for always staying with us.

“It is difficult and also a disaster moment for us, but especially in this moment, we need silence.

“Back tomorrow in training, work, work hard every day and stay together. In three days we have another big match and this moment it is really silence and work hard.”

Dortmund next up for struggling Tottenham

Spurs host Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night needing a win to enhance their chances of a top-eight finish in the Champions League.

Argentina international Romero added: “After the game, go to the dressing room and speak the same.

“It is a difficult moment, it is like a disaster but Champions League, we have another big opportunity to maybe win and go to top eight and go to the next round. That’s the most important thing.”

Frank was targeted with chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” by the Spurs fans after a third successive defeat. 

And with the club sitting in 14th place in the Premier League, the BBC claimed this morning that at least one member of the club’s executive team had floated the idea of sacking the Dane.
