Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in Brennan Johnson race
Various reports over the past few weeks have suggested Bournemouth identifying Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson as the best candidate to replace Antoine Semenyo, who is currently in talks with Liverpool and both Manchester clubs with his £65million clause set to be triggered in January. However, according to the Guardian, Crystal Palace have also registered an interest in Johnson.
The Eagles are keen to bring in a winger in January to stand in for Ismaila Sarr, set to leave to represent Senegal at the upcoming African Cup of Nations. Also, they are determined to show manager Oliver Glasner that he has their full backing when it comes to transfers, being keen to keep him in the job beyond the expiration of his current contract at the end of the season.
Johnson has struggled to get into the Spurs starting XI this term, being named from the first minute by head coach Thomas Frank on only six Premier League occasions. It represents a significant downfall for the player who was the club’s top scorer in 2024/25 and netted the goal that secured the Europa League trophy.
