Crystal Palace considering move for Andoni Iraola to replace Oliver Glasner
Crystal Palace are now considering a move for an “extraordinary” Oliver Glasner replacement, with the Austrian set to leave at the end of the season.
It will be a tall order for Palace’s next manager to eclipse what Glasner has achieved since arriving in February 2024, with the 51-year-old winning the 2025 FA Cup and guiding the Selhurst Park outfit to Europe for the first time in history.
However, Steve Parish & co will have to start assessing potential options soon, as the 51-year-old confirmed his decision to leave at the end of the season, before going on an emotional outburst after the 2-1 defeat against Sunderland.
When asked about his actions, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss didn’t back down, saying: “No, I don’t regret it. “Do I think it was the best way? No, I don’t think so, but that’s Oliver Glasner.
“I think it’s also a part of what we achieved together, that I’m that emotional. I think it helps to create the spirit, that togetherness, that belief. Sometimes maybe it’s not the best possible way, but that’s me.”
The Eagles still have a lot to play for this season, as they are in a strong position to progress to the next round of the UEFA Conference League, so Parish will be hoping for an exciting end to Glasner’s reign.
According to a report from Football Insider, however, Crystal Palace are now eyeing a replacement, with it being revealed a move for AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is being considered, although there could be competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
A move to Selhurst Park is deemed an attractive proposition for several managers, given their FA Cup triumph, and qualifying for next season’s Europa League via a Conference League triumph would give them even more pulling power.
Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke adds: “He could be a real good fit for Palace, he’s Premier League proven and a top young manager who plays very expansive attacking football as well.”
It would be fair to say Mikel Arteta has been left impressed by the job the Spaniard has done at Bournemouth, saying last May: “I think he’s doing an extraordinary job. I think he has changed a lot of things at the club as well, the atmosphere, the belief, the players that he’s recruited, the way they play, really impressive.”
The former Athletic Club boss has solidified Bournemouth in the Premier League, guiding them to a ninth-place finish in the 2024-25 campaign, and they are on course to finish in mid-table again this season, moving up to 13th after a 3-2 victory against Liverpool last time out.

At 43-years-old, Iraola, who prefers to implement a 4-2-3-1 system, is still young for a manager, but he has already done some very impressive work in the Premier League, and he could be the ideal Glasner heir.
