Darren Fletcher reacts to Burnley 2 Man Utd 2 on 7 January 2026
Fletcher called the opportunity to step up and lead the Reds at Turf Moor “an amazing experience”, having been asked to do the job after Ruben Amorim left the role of head coach on Monday, but was naturally left wondering what might have been after his team registered 30 shots in a positive attacking performance.
The Reds responded well to being behind at half-time, and were ahead by the hour mark once Benjamin Sesko scored his first United brace, but were made to settle for a point after Jaidon Anthony netted the fourth goal of the game for Burnley.
At full-time, Fletcher conveyed his feelings while conducting the post-match media duties that he will do again on Sunday, after confirming he has been asked to take charge of the weekend’s Emirates FA Cup tie at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.
