Manchester United legend David Beckham shared a joke with son Romeo after Michael Carrick’s men got the better of rivals Arsenal in the Premier League

David Beckham has shared an interaction between him and son, Romeo, on his Instagram following Manchester United’s dramatic 3-2 win over Arsenal. The ex-United winger has been involved in a controversial week after Brooklyn launched an attack on his parents.

Brooklyn, the eldest son of David and Victoria, posted a series of Instagram stories last Monday slating his mum and dad. The 26-year-old said he did not wish to reconcile with his family in a six-page statement.

In the statement, Brooklyn claimed his parents have been controlling the media narrative about his family and have tried to ruin his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. It’s understood that the three no longer have contact.

However, Beckham still speaks to Romeo. The 23-year-old is the only one of Beckham’s kids to have gone into football, with Romeo playing in Arsenal’s youth academy before joining Inter Miami and Brentford B.

Romeo is a renowned Arsenal supporter, and on Sunday, his dad took to social media to poke fun at the Gunners after United’s first win at the Emirates Stadium since 2017. Alongside an image of him celebrating his famous halfway goal against AFC Wimbledon in 1996, he wrote: “You ok Romeo,” alongside some love hearts.

He then followed that up with another picture of him celebrating a goal during his playing days at United. “As the Boss would say ‘squeeky bum time’,” he wrote. “That Gap is getting smaller.”

Romeo was quick to respond to his dad on his own Instagram page. Posting the Premier League team, which sees Arsenal above United by 12 points, he wrote: “don’t get too gassed. Mind the gap.”

United’s win over Arsenal leaves Michael Carrick’s men inside the top four places. Since replacing Ruben Amorim, the former midfielder has beaten the Premier League top two in Arsenal and Manchester City.
