Erling Haaland Makes Bold Joke About Mo Salah and Jamie Carragher Spat
If Erling Haaland has learned one thing this week it’s that you do not get on the wrong side of Jamie Carragher.
Carragher made headlines on Monday evening for his no-nonsense verdict on Mohamed Salah’s situation at Liverpool where he claimed to have been “thrown under the bus” by the Anfield club and suggested that he had “no relationship” with Arne Slot.
On Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher labeled Salah “a disgrace” for what he said in the interview and those comments clearly made their way to the blue side of Manchester with Haaland addressing them after Man City’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid.
Erling Haaland Pokes Fun At Jamie Carragher
After hearing Carragher’s comments regarding Salah, Haaland didn’t waste his opportunity to make a joke at Carragher’s expense during his live interview with CBS Sports on Wednesday night.
Asked how he was doing by Micah Richards, Haaland replied: “Oof, I’m getting nervous when I’m seeing Jamie Carragher in the studio!” In response, Carragher said: “There’s no need to be nervous, Erling. You don’t need to be nervous.”
Following a fierce battle with Antonio Rudiger in the clash at the Bernabeu, Richards then asked who he prefers out of the German defender and Carragher, leading the Man City star to strike back again.
Haaland replied with a laugh, saying: “I think I need to say Rudiger now because Carragher is a bit (of) a loose cannon now!”
The Man City star’s comments left the CBS Sports studio in fits of laughter as he poked fun at Carragher’s comments regarding Salah.
Haaland Is Right To Be Scared Of Carragher
Erling Haaland’s exchange with CBS Sports was all in good fun, but he’s certainly right to be afraid of Carragher. The former Liverpool defender has developed a reputation for not pulling his punches during his work with Sky Sports and CBS Sports, and rightly so.
Carragher’s job is to call the game as he sees it and with the situation regarding Mo Salah, the Sky Sports pundit made it very clear that he disagreed with how the Egyptian star has conducted himself.
It isn’t the first time that Carragher has criticised the Liverpool talisman, proving that his comments on the star are certainly consistent.
Elite-level footballers are at a place now where they feel untouchable, but the Salah vs Carragher dispute this week has proven that even the best footballers are vulnerable to fair scrutiny from those in the media.
While Haaland hasn’t been in this situation himself, he may well just learn a thing or two about how not to conduct himself in the future.
