Frank Bruno gives honest answer when asked if Moses Itauma could beat prime Mike Tyson

Moses Itauma has been compared to Mike Tyson throughout his professional career thus far and two-time Tyson opponent, Frank Bruno, has now had his say on whether Itauma would have a chance against ‘Iron Mike’.

After an impressive amateur career, Itauma laid down his intentions by declaring plans to beat Tyson’s record and become the youngest ever heavyweight world champion, ahead of his switch to the professional scene.

Whilst Itauma has since surpassed that record-breaking age (20y 4m), he now finds himself just two fights away from a shot at the heavyweight crown and is undeniably the hottest prospect in the division.

Speaking with Clubhouse Boxing, former WBC heavyweight world champion Frank Bruno, who was halted by Tyson in 1989 and 1996, pressed the brakes on the Itauma hype train by dismissing the youngster’s chances against a prime Tyson.

“Prime Mike Tyson [would win], without a doubt.”

Ironically, Tyson’s prime was arguably only a year or two older than Itauma’s current age, looking at his best during his run to the undisputed throne, following his early WBC heavyweight title win against Trevor Berbick.

Lessened activity means we should expect Itauma to reach his peak later in his career, when questions regarding a fantasy fight between he and the once ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ may draw a different response, providing the Slovakia-born operator can deliver on his obvious potential.
