Get Back on Track | Re-thinking Athletics Facilities — Neuff Athletic Equipment

Athletics is growing again in the UK, with a rise in participation of approx. 10% in 2023-24*.

And yet, unsurprisingly, football is the country’s most popular sport, with around 30,000 grass pitches and 92 club stadiums across the UK.  Opportunities therefore abound for multi-use sports, with many sports providers now looking at optimising these facilities and income streams to springboard other sports, including athletics.

Opportunities for Athletic Facilities Development

  • Why not put a mini-track around a compact football pitch
  • How about a polymer surface Trim Trail integrated into a sprint straight alongside a football pitch?
  • What about a multi-use polymer surface area, ideal for general outdoor fitness & circuit training as well as track and field basic skills and drills?

Enhance Athletics Provision without new Facilities

Track and Field can be seen as a very structured activity, but let’s remember that running, jumping and throwing are crucial basic skills across a whole range of sports.  Winter athletics training can look very similar to general fitness and drills for sports as diverse as football, netball, gymnastics and cross-fit.

Sprint tracks play a key role in acceleration, agility and endurance training for footballers, triathletes, gymnasts and more.  Plyometrics and core work build power and flexibility for all athletes, and agility ladders, medicine balls, resistance elastics, and marker spots are used in every sport.

Add Athletics to other Sports

A number of schools and leisure trusts are leading the way, with exciting new developments maximising sporting opportunities through innovative formats.  England Athletics is pioneering Mini-Track events, taking advantage of innovative track & field layouts and many athletics clubs have waiting lists for youngsters to join.

Think out of the box!

UKA has a new approach to facilities development, with partnerships across a range of excellent organisations, such as sports testing, track laying, project management and more.  Neuff is delighted to see this support offer for tracks, schools and facilities.  But what about the equipment needed to use these fantastic new facilities in practice?

Neuff offers complementary expertise in fixtures, furniture and equipment, bringing that extra zing to the final project, especially when considered in the early stages of a capital project.

Whether you are a school, leisure provider, or sports capital project manager, we can ensure you get the right equipment for your needs, all within budget.
