Despite the negative aspects of the day, Gordon Ramsay wrote an honest caption on social media to sum up how he felt about the wedding

Olympian swimmer Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay were married at Bath Abbey two days after Christmas and it was a hugely eventful day in Somerset. Members of the Beckham family were in attendance, as was Dragon’s Den star Sara Davies.

Ramsay, daughter of celebrity TV chef Gordon, was walked into the venue by her father. Holly’s two sisters Tilly and Megan were bridesmaids with Peaty’s sister Bethany. The pair reportedly first met in 2021 through Tilly, while the two were contestants on Strictly Come Dancing.

Their romance blossomed and now Peaty, 31, and Holly, 25, have tied the knot. However, despite it being a day filled with love and joy for all involved, it didn’t come without its drama. Here, the Mirror takes a closer look at what happened on the wedding day.

Gordon Ramsay in wedding scuffle

Extraordinary scenes unfolded at the wedding, with Gordon at the centre of a scuffle after the bride was mobbed by a cluster of photographers as they entered the church.

The drama had been building for weeks following a family fall-out on Peaty’s side that resulted in him inviting a single member of his family. Therefore, there was a big press presence laying in wait.

Despite there being a designated area for the press to work from, some individuals decided to disregard this and run to catch up with Gordon and Holly, clashing with bodyguards in the process.

The father and daughter were protected by a shield of bodyguards but a scuffle kicked off down a narrow alleyway at the side of the venue, leading to unsavoury scenes. Despite this, they were able to make it into the venue without the situation descending into further chaos.

Adam Peaty slammed

Peaty’s sister Bethany was the only family member of the swimmer’s to attend the wedding, serving as bridesmaid.

The 31-year-old sportsman has since been slammed after it was revealed he invited his father, but only under the condition that he sit at the back of the church.

A family source told The Sun: “Frankly, it’s disgusting that it went ahead without Adam reaching out to his mum and dad beforehand. It was a difficult day for Caroline and Mark, so the family spent the evening together. Caroline got upset as soon as she saw the photographs from the wedding.

“For him to turn around and tell Beth that his dad could come and sit at the back of the church is awful. Mark was told he could sit behind plus-ones – who Adam has probably never even seen or spoken to.”

Gordon’s five-word remark to Holly

On a more positive note, father Gordon provided daughter Holly with a five-word remark after his daughter became a wife.

As part of his statement on Instagram, he completed it with the words: “Couldn’t be a prouder dad”. The full caption can be read below.

“I’m truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son-in-law – Adam Peaty!,” wrote Gordon. “I love you so much Holly Ramsay and couldn’t be a prouder Dad xxx”
