Guardiola remains tight-lipped about Semenyo speculation
Pep Guardiola insisted that he does not know “any news” about a potential move to Manchester City for Antoine Semenyo.
The Bournemouth winger reportedly has a release clause worth £65m in January, with City interested in acquiring his services.
Semenyo has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025-26 season, with only Erling Haaland (23) directly contributing to more goals than the Ghanaian (12 – nine goals, three assists).
The 25-year-old was also crucial in helping secure a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge during the week, with both goals coming from his long throws.
Cherries boss Andoni Iraola was asked whether that was Semenyo’s last match for the club, but the Spaniard was adamant that his star man would feature against Arsenal on Saturday.
Guardiola was questioned on the matter ahead of City’s New Year’s Day clash at Sunderland, to which he did not want to say too much.
“I have to be careful what I say,” Guardiola said when asked about Semenyo’s future.

“I don’t know any news about anything right now. I’m sorry, I don’t have any news.
“That is why I said yesterday before and the day of the game – the transfer window is completely closed right now.”
City are currently five points behind Arsenal in the Premier League, but could cut that gap to two with a win at the Stadium of Light.
City have won each of their last seven top-flight matches against Sunderland since a 2-2 draw in April 2014, last enjoying a longer winning run against the Black Cats between December 2002 and December 2009 (nine wins).
