At 65 the worse thing someone can do is think certain exercises are superior, and have to be done, especially depending upon life's battle scars. You find what doesn't cause aggravation issues and keeps you consistent, not follow some hype on a specific exercises dominance.
These are great recommendations. I will add them to a new lower body routine I'm putting together. I'm 65 and started weight lifting again 4 months ago after 15 years. I also do cardio 3-4 times a week. I already feel so much stronger, and I've lost about 35 lbs. Thanks.
This video is ridiculous! You can’t start at the end with perfect balance, strength and motion like it models. You have to stay at the beginning! Show people how to get there. What to do when they have muscular i and skeletal imbalances, pain, inflammation, reduced range of motion because of pain and injury.
I am 65 too and I have osteoarthritis, rhizoarthritis and all. Kneecaps with extra thin cartilage and wrists that cannot withstand much pressure. Exercise is good if you are lucky only!
Oof, this was a wake-up call! 🛑 It’s easy to skip the basics, but our future selves are counting on us. I’m committing to these starting today — anyone else feeling that push to get serious about movement?
This looks a good group of exercises I won’t be able to do all of them right off. I noticed a lot of folks that have great mobility have great genetics and are smaller as well. Won’t stop me from working hard though.!
68, 290# now down to 205 doing Keto and 35 minutes of elliptical at 125 heart rate every other day, resistance with 5-10# weights other days, little 10 min walks after meals. Keep consistent is key. It’s taken me a year to get here. Going for 180#.
The fact that I can't put my socks on standing on one foot has nothing to do with my balance stability or strength. It has everything to do with the fact that I have severe arthritis in my left knee. Does this mean within ten years I'm going to meet the grim reaper? I hate these YouTube videos predicated on gas lighting.
Sir, thank you for your valuable words. But I am 67 , male , 5 ft 2 inch height , 65 kgs weight. I take OMAD with low carbs , no sugar . Sir , is there any exercise for me , as I can not bend my knees . I walk around 4000 steps daily ( average ) . Kindly advise me .
The "sumo stance" is a stance used in Goju karate called shiko dachi. In many of the clips shown here the posture used by the practitioner is incorrect, stresses the lower back, and is a "cheat" that reduces the effectiveness of this. Good information, but a lack of knowledge about physical performance is obvious by the clips. Take the exercises and find physical therapists demonstrating the correct techniques on youtube.
64 year old here, sock test – different variation can you wash your feet in the shower on one leg. Do most of them or variations of. I'm just horrified that people think they can just go through life with no activity and exercise and there not be any consequences as they age.
Tried the single-leg RDL this morning—couldn’t believe how tough it was just to stay balanced 😅 Definitely eye-opening. Curious if anyone else failed the Old Man Test like I did? Let’s turn this around together
These exercises were part of a calisthenics program I was doing during the pandemic. I was thinner and felt good, but returned to the gym, since I felt I was losing muscle. This looks like something I can incorporate into my regular routine.

It start when you are young & already have muscle but for senior deep knee bend will put you there permanently.
For the senior you need to sit on a chair with resistence band & stand behind chair for support.
