    I have shoulder and back pain and need surgery, but to get that surgery, I need to be under a certain BMI. I'm 10 lb over the limit and that seems like a doable goal, even if I've never really been able to lose weight before. (Physical therapy is something I've tried on and off but, mostly for insurance or job constraints, I haven't been able to go.) I've been trying to do planet fitness (mental health issues also pose obstacles, but so far so good) and focus only on my legs. (Surprised that, even though I had a 2-week break, I have still somehow been handling more and more weight on the hip ab/adductions.)

    But today, the gym was emptier and I got to explore and try some things. I hadn't taken my muscle relaxers today but tenatively tried some exercises that didn't need me to lift my arms over the shoulder on the 360. And the back extension machine, when I first got the gym tour, I noped away quickly. But trying it today and it just felt sooo good. No back pain until I got back on the couch at home.

    I have to wait and see what I regret tomorrow but usually I can tell when I've effed something up, or at least know I pushed too far. (activities that can leave me writhing in pain for weeks include: hanging up a curtain rod. carrying a garbage bag. raking leaves.) I'm really hoping that I can do some exercises that kinda gently nudge those muscle groups into being less awful.

    For reasons I won't bother explaining, doing it with gym equipment works a lot better than trying to do it at home. So anyway. Glad to have this video.

    Edit: I've also had a lot of heart issues and related anxiety lately. So I'm scared of the concept of cardio hahah. My fitbit says my heart rate is faster when I'm filing paperwork than when I'm working out. Go figure.
