Could you please link the studies showing the increased rate of muscle loss?

If you fell for ozempic, you either do not do research or you do it wrong. This world was designed to give readers the ability to fleece the ignorant so don't be that. Changing this changes everything.

Decreased muscle mass also means able to store X less calories per kg of muscle , so that will reduce daily passive burned amount as well

There is already a drug in stage 2 (human) trials that combines ozympic type drug with 2 new anabolic drugs. Stage one testing resulted in fat loss and muscle gain. I know it sounds to good to be true.

With rapid weight loss you would lose some muscle mass regardless of how the weight was lost

That’s why they all look older than they are. And the ones saying they don’t, are delusional. I have. All of my coworkers on it and celebrities all look older in the face.

What about keeping these GLP1 inhibitors and adding on a myostatin inhibitor?

  16. @hissykittycat

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

I agree. And the scary thing is, everyone is jumping on this ship. I’ve felt the pressure to do it because everyone talks about how great it is. But I hate taking medicine and my goal is to take ZERO medicine if possible. The last thing I’d want is an expensive medication that will make me fat when I give it up.

Isn't this disheartening? Where does one and who does 1 belief so much conflicting information? Are we being used as Guinea pigs? Is it another insult on obesity? I'm on AGL P1 and honestly I have not lost a tremendous amount of weight. It's still very difficult.

Fellow healthcare provider here: there’s some misinformation here, and she doesn’t mention preventative measures that can be taken for patients on Ozempic to mitigate muscle loss. Most obese patients have more muscle mass to begin with (FYI: muscle hypertrophy and mass does not equal strength), and the benefits of weight loss may outweigh the risks of GLP-1 medications. But please, please don’t go by this or my advice: ASK YOUR OWN PHYSICIAN!!!

I have PCOS and autodysnomia and I gained 40 pounds in three months no diet or exercise regime would help me so I’ve been on it and it saved me from suicide . I actually leave the house and I don’t feel ashamed and I’m not isolating anymore . Yes I think I’ve lost some muscle but I try to get 100 g of protein a day and I work out every day with weights

I was 100 lbs overweight and old enough that they weight was difficult to lose. I almost resorted to one of these weight loss meds but decided against it after hearing and reading about the muscle mass loss. I was formerly in very good shape with a natural muscular physique, so at almost 52y I started hitting the gym hard and it's been working. I had no idea I could build muscle after 50y but it's true. 💪

I knew an elderly diabetic man who had been on Ozempic to lose weight and he stopped the Ozempic and he carried on losing weight and became just skin and bone. Please be careful out there with this drug. I have seen it with my own eyes. I am a bit overweight and have metabolic syndrome and would NEVER take this drig after seeing what happened to this man.

  36. @brealei

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

Sometimes less overall weight is more helpful than muscle mass.

  37. @otaku3OBSESSION

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

Honestly, with every fad, every medication, every miracle supplement, one thing remains the same. The long term effectiveness of any treatment, is only as effective as it is sustainable.

  38. @allofthenames77

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

Lose the weight naturally. You do not need Ozempic.

  39. @2enigma8

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

Many people with a mental illness (BDD etc) will not take this seriously

  40. @jessicah3450

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

Even my OBGYN is prescribing Ozempic now. I had gastric sleeve and spent 2 years working closely with a RD and an ED therapist to make this surgery and new way of eating a success. I still fought nutritional deficiencies, like low protein, b-vitamins, and iron. Despite centering every meal and snack around protein. It's hard! The doctors prescribing it without treating the underlying disordered eating habits are not solving the problem.

  41. @VanChancelor

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

I’m not a doctor but I know losing weight naturally these happen, if you take or look at people that starved their self to get skinny or just lose the weight quickly the same thing happens. You gotta up your protein take some supplements and you’ll be fine, and I was against these until I find out a few things and did my own research about them, for me I would love for my mom to get on to help her with her weight so she can be more active and keep up with the grandkids! I feel you should have a plan with these, let these help you lose the weight and help you relearn the healthy way of eating and living and try to get off when you hit your goals! It’s either be fat unhealthy, death or some diabetic insulin prescriptions or take this to help you lose the weight!

  42. @c.b9580

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

Scaremongering. By that logic we should also ban bariatric surgery or any type of weight loss. People using these methods gain health benefits by losing weight, assuming it's done correctly and safely, with high protein, weight/strength training and plenty of fibre and fluids. Not saying there isn't risks, but done correctly these can be mitigated.

  43. @TheDa6781

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

I have just opened the time capsule and am reporting from the future. I can confirm that Ozempic is bad. Except when it is not.

  44. @chagle595

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

You should have started with the lack of longevity. I’d have been on it years ago …

  45. @charlottepeukert9095

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

The medication is meant for diabetic patients.
Not for people, who want to loose weight.
Furthermore, people are at risk of developing pancreatitis. It's not a pretty side effect and results in a medical emergency.

  46. @Pandamonium2187

    June 20, 2025 at 5:07 pm

All weight-loss is starvation at the baseline, is it not? You're using more calories than you consume, causing your body to burn fat for fuel because they're starved of their usual fuel source.

I do agree that weight training should happen to maintain muscle mass, but muscle mass is lost with normal aging anyway.

    Weird take.
