Upper Neck Pain with Headache

Upper Neck Pain with Headache

The area where the upper neck meets contains the suboccipital nerve… when the tissue is tight and unhealthy, it compresses the nerve causing headaches! The headaches can wrap all the way around to the forehead.

Over time our posture and lifestyle keeps us in the same positions and tissues become tighter and tighter sending an abnormal signal from these tissues to the brain. If these tissues happen to be in the upper neck, not only do they compress nerves but they themselves signal to the brain that there is a dysfunction which can spark more pain.

Try these great exercises to strengthen and re-normalize the tissue.

I never loved chin tuck exercises because they don't integrate the thoracic spine.

I suffer from headaches since I was 14. Now I’m in my mid 30s and there is no treatment I’ve not done. I hate it as every day I have to pop painkillers 😢 I am exhausted 😩

I don’t get headaches, but I definitely noticed my head tilts back which causes neck, pain and upper back pain for me. I’ve been dealing with this for almost 3 weeks 😫

I've had migraines 20 years because of this issue, I have anxiety problems and have very tense shoulders/neck. Once a week I become impaired and have to take painkillers to get out of the cycle. Will have to try this method. Also strengthening the front of the neck is important too since the backmuscles are getting overworked and front gets weaker, creating an imbalance

I was getting migraines and nausea because of this. I also clench my teeth A LOT cause the pain. Gonna start these NOW, thank you!!
