Heartbreak for non-leaguers while Birmingham and Bristol City progress after goalfests
With Aston Villa dumping out Tottenham in an all-Premier League affair in London to pile further pressure into Spurs boss Thomas Frank, there were three other 5.45pm kick-offs in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday.

Grimsby Town 3-2 Weston-super-Mare
There was heartbreak for non-league side Weston-super-Mare who could not quite emulate Macclesfield’s earlier heroics and fell to a 3-2 defeat at League Two outfit Grimsby Town.
The Step 6 club thought they had done enough to send the tie to extra time but substitute Kieran Green scored an 86th-minute winner to secure Grimsby passage into fourth round.
Charles Vernam’s fine shot from distance had put the Mariners 1-0 up shortly before half-time, but Luke Coulson drew the National League South outfit level – in what was their first appearance in their 138-year history in the competition’s third round.
Jaze Kabia then. notched his 11th goal of the campaign when he found the net to put Grimsby back in front.
But again Weston hit back, with striker Louis Britton equalising from close range.
However, with extra time looming, the hosts went in front for a third and final time, with Green nodding home from a corner.
Bristol City 5-1 Watford
A hat-trick from Emil Riis plus goals from Rob Atkinson and Anis Mehmeti saw Bristol City cruise into the next round following a clinical 5-1 thrashing of fellow Championship side Watford.
Riis broke the deadlock in just the second minute before Mehmeti doubled the hosts lead at Ashton Gate before the break.
Defender Atkinson then nodded home a third before Riis netted twice more to put the game to bed either side of Jack Grieves’ consolation for Watford.
Cambridge United 2-3 Birmingham City
Birmingham City avoided a scare as they held out for a 3-2 victory over Cambridge United after a valiant comeback from the hosts.
The Blues, 40 places above their League Two opponents, were 3-0 up with just 10 minutes remaining, courtesy of first-half goals from Kai Wagner, Kyogo Furuhashi and Marvin Ducksch.
But a late brace from Cambridge’s Sulley Kaikai set up an exciting ending to a game that had for large periods seemed to be a foregone conclusion.
