Ian Wright Provides Laura Woods Update After Worrying Live TV Collapse
Ian Wright has provided an update after he helped Laura Woods following the presenter’s worrying collapse live on TV earlier this week.
Woods, 38, was fronting the ITV4 broadcast for England Women’s clash against Ghana at Southampton’s St Mary’s stadium on Tuesday evening when she suddenly fell forward. Arsenal legend Wright and former England international Anita Asante caught Woods before the camera panned away from the incident.
Katie Shanahan stepped in for Woods, informing viewers: “As you have probably noticed we don’t have the wonderful Laura Woods because she’s just been taken ill but she’s in very good hands so I’m stepping in at late notice.”
Adam Collard, Woods’ fiancé and the father of their first child who was born in January, then wrote on X (Twitter): “Laura is all ok and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”
Woods herself then took to social media to explain what happened. “Gosh that was a bit weird,” she wrote. “Sorry to worry everyone, I’m ok, the wonderful paramedic at Saints have said it’s probably a virus, just need a bit of rest & rehydration.
“I’m really embarrassed that happened on TV, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight. And to Wrighty & Neets for catching me. And sorry again x”.
Ian Wright Gives Laura Woods Update
On the latest episode of Stick to Football, Wright broke his silence on the incident. Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville both asked how Woods is doing, prompting Roy Keane to put his arm around Wright.
The 62-year-old said: “She’s fine. I got a message from her this morning. It was worrying but she’s fine. People have been really nice about it. I’m glad she’s okay.”
Jill Scott added: “She said that she thinks she’s got a virus but it must have been horrible for that to happen, on live TV as well.”
Manchester United legend Keane then lightened the mood by saying: “Not the first woman to fall into your arms I’m guessing, Ian?”
Wright replied: “I can’t do anything around this guy, man.” Skip to 10:20 to watch the clip:
