Jake Paul drops Tyson Fury bombshell after huge Anthony Joshua claim

Jake Paul is set to face Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight showdown on December 19, but the YouTube sensation is already looking ahead at the prospect of facing two-time world champion, Tyson Fury

Jake Paul has made the bold claim he will knock out Anthony Joshua – and then take on Tyson Fury next year. The YouTube star turned boxer is scheduled to face the two-time heavyweight world champion in Miami, Florida, on December 19 in a fight that will be broadcast globally on Netflix.

While the 28-year-old is clearly focused on his upcoming opponent, he has also outlined his ambitions for future contests. During a press conference on Friday evening with Ariel Helwani, Paul was questioned about whether he intends to derail Joshua’s forthcoming plans with Matchroom Boxing.

He responded: “Yeah, 100%. It’s a massive mistake to look past this, seriously. I’m putting a stint in all of those plans.

“Don’t book anything, don’t arrange flights and hotels. I’m knocking this guy out, becoming the CEO of Matchroom Boxing and changing the plans. Then it’s going to be me vs Tyson Fury next year.”

When questioned about whether he felt disrespected by Joshua’s future arrangements and Eddie Hearn’s remarks regarding the bout, Paul added: “Yeah, look at the last time they came to America and what the plans they had were. Andy Ruiz stopped that, so this is Andy Ruiz 2.0.”

Addressing his own future intentions, Joshua said: “Yeah, if I’m going to be honest, I’m going to break his face, I’m going to break his body up, I’m going to stomp all over him. That’s my mentality, right? That’s a fighter’s mentality.

“And I know what’s in my heart, I know what’s in my mind, and I’m here to compete. I’m here to prove myself, that I’m the better fighter. So I’m looking forward to it and I’ll do that until I’m finished fighting, no matter who it is.”

When questioned about potential opponents lined up for 2026, Joshua remained tight-lipped, responding: “My focus is on Jake Paul. They’re not signed, they’re not sealed, but they’re opportunities, really.

“They’re just opportunities in the game, but my main focus that’s signed and sealed is Jake Paul. So that’s all I want in front of me.”

It isn’t Paul’s first encounter with the Fury family. In February 2023, boxer suffered his first professional defeat to Tommy Fury, who claimed a split-decision victory after eight gruelling rounds.

While speculation continues about a potential rematch, Paul now appears determined to face two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson instead.

The stumbling block, however, is that Fury announced his retirement from boxing earlier this year, after back-to-back defeats to unbeaten Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

Breaking the news on social media in January, Fury said: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing, it’s been a blast.

“I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this, Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side.”
