James Pearce Issues Triple Liverpool Injury Update After Tottenham
Liverpool are waiting on scans following a triple injury scare in the win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening, according to Athletic reporter James Pearce.
Conor Bradley was withdrawn at half-time after suffering a knock towards the end of the first half, before Alexander Isak was taken off immediately after scoring his side’s opening goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having been clattered into by Micky van de Ven.
Pearce also spotted Florian Wirtz feeling his hamstring at the end of the game, as Arne Slot’s Liverpool side held on to record a much-needed 2-1 win against nine-man Spurs.
Liverpool Facing ‘Anxious Wait’ Over Potential Injuries
The blow suffered by Isak looked particularly bad, with initial suggestions it could be a knee issue for the Sweden international.
However, posting on X, Pearce has confirmed that it is actually a lower leg issue for the Premier League’s record signing, who came off of the bench to put the visitors ahead.
Meanwhile, the Reds journalist added that it is hoped that the issue that forced Bradley off at the break isn’t serious, and that Wirtz’s issue was just cramp.
The Merseyside club will now await the results of the scans to see if that is the case, as they look set to embark on a busy festive period with matches against Wolves, Leeds, Fulham and Arsenal between December 27 and January 8.
Huge Blow for Isak
While hopes are seemingly high that Bradley and Wirtz’s issues are not serious, Isak’s didn’t look great.
A stretcher was called following the collision and while it is a boost that it isn’t the knee that has been affected, a lower leg injury is not great either.
It could have been a defining game for Isak too, who has struggled to live up to his huge price tag following his summer switch from Newcastle United.
Big moments and goals have been few and far between, but his finish against Spurs was a good one and one that gave them the lead in a game where they had been toothless in the first half.
Isak and Liverpool will be hoping that the injury isn’t as bad as it looked at first, as the Swede looks to get his Reds career properly up and running.
