Liverpool earned a crucial victory over Tottenham on Saturday evening but it wasn’t all good news with a worrying update regarding Florian Wirtz.
The Reds made it three wins in a row with a 2-1 victory over Spurs in North London with goals from Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike earning three valuable points.
While the striking duo were on the scoresheet, it was Wirtz who was among the stars of the show against Thomas Frank’s side, completing 91 percent of his passes and more dribbles than anybody else on the pitch with four.
Florian Wirtz Injury Worry
In a quite bonkers match, Liverpool were looking to see out the result in injury time after Richarlison got a goal back to make it 2-1 to the Reds. Having signaled for nine minutes of added time, the game was almost over when Wirtz appeared to pick up an injury.
Taking to X, The Athletic’s Liverpool reporter James Pearce said: “Wirtz just pulled up and rubbed his hamstring. Concerning.”
Coming off the pitch, Wirtz was replaced by Trey Nyoni who made his Premier League debut for Arne Slot’s side as they played down the clock to earn a crucial three points.
It was the second injury of the day after Isak, who scored their opener, was forced off just 14 minutes after coming on at half-time.
But while Liverpool moved up to fifth in the Premier League table, the injury to Wirtz will be a worry.
