Japanese GP qualifying: Max Verstappen snatches last-gasp pole from McLarens

Max Verstappen stole pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix from McLaren’s Lando Norris with a remarkable lap of the Suzuka circuit on Saturday.

The four-time champion driver beat Norris to the top spot by 0.012 seconds after a last-gasp effort that defied the formbook from the weekend’s three practice sessions. Championship leader Norris will start second ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri in third.
