Joel Dahmen jokes about slim chances of catching Justin Rose at the Farmers Insurance Open

Joel Dahmen is currently only behind Justin Rose at the Farmers Insurance Open but admits the Englishman is out of reach. The popular golfer is only hoping for a miracle, like Rose forgetting to set his alarm ahead of Sunday showdown.

On Saturday, January 31, Joel Dahmen fired a 4-under 68 in the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open. Following the third round, he aggregated at 15-under but is still six strokes behind Justin Rose, who continued his lead after shooting 68.

During the post-round interview, Dahmen shared his views on catching up with Rose in the final round.

“My only hope is if he doesn’t set his alarm or he somehow starts hitting in the rough on the back nine maybe. I don’t know. The way he’s playing and what he’s doing, I would be pleased with second place.” he said.

Rose started the first day with a 10-under 62 and hasn’t looked back since. The following day, he fired a 65 and continued his dominance with a third-round 68. For the uninitiated, he won at Torrey Pines seven years ago as well, after beating Adam Scott by two strokes.

As for Dahmen, the popular golfer has made a great start to the year after losing his PGA Tour card last year. Last year, he missed a whopping 12 cuts in 28 starts and eventually finished 122nd in the FedEx Cup Fall standings. Now, he will be hoping to regain his card with some good finishes this year.
