Jon Jones Drops Bombshell Update on Alex Pereira Super-Fight
In the summer of 2025, Jon Jones officially announced his retirement from the sport of MMA, and in doing so, vacated the undisputed UFC heavyweight title, which he held at the time.
‘Bones’ made the decision to retire following months of back-and-forth negotiations with the UFC about a fight against current undisputed heavyweight king Tom Aspinall, and despite Dana White and the promotion’s best efforts, they could not get the deal done. Just two weeks after vacating the title and announcing his retirement, the American then shocked the MMA world by un-retiring and setting his sights on a return to the Octagon at this summer’s huge event, which the UFC will be hosting at the White House.
Although the UFC boss, White, has said on multiple occasions that if Jones is to fight again, the fight with Aspinall is the one to make, ‘Bones’ has other ideas. He, instead, wants to fight the man who is arguably the biggest star in the UFC today, current undisputed light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
Unsurprisingly, both Jones and Pereira have a huge interest in the fight and have publicly pushed for it to happen for months. We now seemingly know the status of that potential fight following a brand-new, bombshell update from Jones.

Jon Jones Claims Dana White Has No Interest in Booking Alex Pereira Super-Fight
Although Jon Jones vs Alex Pereira is without a shadow of a doubt one of, if not the biggest fight the UFC could make right now, UFC president Dana White isn’t interested in making it happen, according to ‘Bones.’
During a recent interview with Red Corner MMA, Jones revealed that although he is pushing for the fight to happen and ‘Poatan’ also very clearly wants the fight, he doesn’t think the UFC boss will allow it to happen.
Jones said the following to Red Corner MMA:
“Pereira wants to fight me, but I don’t think Dana White’s gonna allow that to happen. It’ll be interesting to see what Dana wants.”
Jones will probably be disappointed by White’s current stance on the fight, but after the way he conducted himself during negotiations to fight Tom Aspinall for months, his relationship with both the boss and the promotion may arguably still need work.
Although the consensus MMA GOAT said, “It’ll be interesting to see what Dana wants,” he has made it clear time and time again that the fight he wants to see Jones take if he is to fight again is the one against the Brit, Aspinall.
