Justin Gaethje Leaks Bold Strategy to Fight Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324
On Saturday, the 24th of January, the UFC‘s Paramount and CBS era will begin, and it is starting off with a blockbuster event.
UFC 324, which is the very first numbered card of the promotion’s brand-new media rights deal, will be headlined by a huge interim UFC lightweight title fight between the entertaining Justin Gaethje and superstar Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett. Although the fight has received some criticism, mainly due to Arman Tsarukyan’s absence in the running to be Ilia Topuria‘s next opponent, Gaethje vs Pimblett guarantees entertainment and is a perfect way to kick-start a huge, new era for the UFC.
Although stylistically, this is a fantastic fight, the general take amongst both fans and analysts is that the fight is going to be won by either man’s main strengths, which are, of course, the striking department for Gaethje and on the ground for Pimblett. However, during a recent interview, ‘The Highlight’ teased that he may try to beat Pimblett at his own game.

Justin Gaethje Teases Going For a Submission Victory Against Paddy Pimblett
Although Paddy Pimblett is one of the best and most slick jiu-jitsu artists in the UFC today, Justin Gaethje seems motivated by the idea of potentially submitting the Brit in their interim lightweight title fight at UFC 324. Pimblett has 10 times the career submission wins of Gaethje, however, during a recent interview with Submission Radio, ‘The Highlight’ teased going for a submission victory, even though he’s “not looking to grapple.”
Gaethje said the following to Submission Radio:
“This is such a crazy game, you just never know. Maybe I’ll sub him. That’s got to be a million-to-one odds, though.”
Although the odds of Gaethje submitting Pimblett won’t quite be a million to one, it is definitely the most unexpected way the fight could end. The American has finished just one of his 26 professional MMA victories via submission, so to pull off the second of his career against a ground specialist as good as ‘The Baddy’ would be quite an achievement.
As well as backing his submission ability against Pimblett, Gaethje also gave himself heavy praise for his skills in the wrestling department, claiming it will not be easy for him to be taken down, but if he is, he may just try and latch on to a submission.
