Juventus cool Chiesa interest over cost issues
Juventus have reportedly been exploring the possibility of re-signing Federico Chiesa from Liverpool, but according to multiple sources, their interest has waned over the last couple of days.
The main issue appears to be the financial one. Liverpool are looking to get as much as possible for the services of the 28-year-old winger, either through a straight sale or a loan with an obligation to buy. On top of that, Juventus would have to dig deep in their pockets every week to cover the wages of the player.
No decision has been made – a deal could still go through before the month is over – but at this point, Juventus has slowed their efforts down while they ponder whether Chiesa would be worth such an investment.
Meanwhile, Chiesa’s situation at Liverpool isn’t great. Head coach Arne Slot doesn’t appear to trust him much, at least not when it comes to starting important matches, preferring to shoehorn players from other positions into the wide attacking role, rather than to start Chiesa.
In all competitions, Chiesa has made 21 appearances this season, but only one of those was a Premier League start. He has two goals and three assists to his name.
