Khabib Reacts Strongly to Xabi Alonso Leaving Real Madrid
Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is a massive Real Madrid fan, has made his feelings very clear about Xabi Alonso abruptly and surprisingly leaving the club yesterday afternoon.
The former UFC fighter, who retired undefeated with a professional record of 29-0, is a massive football fan, and has previously shown his loyalty and love for the Madrid-based club, even refusing to sign Barcelona merchandise for his biggest of fans. He’s also demonstrated his football abilities on the pitch over the last few years as well.
However, the latest news surrounding Madrid has caused a serious reaction from the former lightweight champion, and he’s taken to his official Instagram account to react to the news, and he’s made his feelings very clear.
Xabi Alonso Leaves Real Madrid
Alonso, who only joined Real Madrid in the summer after leaving German side Bayer Leverkusen, has left the Spanish giants sitting second in the table after 19 games played. They are currently four points behind fierce rivals Barcelona, and four points clear of third-place Villarreal.
But, after losing 3-2 to Barca in the Spanish Super Cup, enough was enough for Alonso, and he decided to leave his role immediately, with Alvaro Arbeloa stepping in as his replacement.
In their official statement, Madrid said: “Real Madrid C. F. wishes to announce that, by mutual agreement between the club and Xabi Alonso, it has been decided to bring his time as first team coach to an end.
“Xabi Alonso will always carry the affection and admiration of all Madridistas because he is a Real Madrid legend and has always represented the values of our club. Real Madrid will always be his home.
“We would like to thank Xabi Alonso and all his coaching staff for their hard work and dedication throughout this time, and wish them the best of luck in this new stage of their lives.”
Alonso, of course, was also a player for Real Madrid, representing the club from 2009 to 2014, so his decision to leave has come under serious scrutiny from some fans, no more so than Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Khabib Blasts Real Madrid Players For Xabi Alonso Departure
Taking to social media, Khabib has voiced his displeasure at the fact Alonso has left the club, clearly putting the blame on the doorstep of the players.
At first, he wrote: “If you come into a gym or onto the pitch, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a fighter or a footballer — the head coach is in charge. But if the atmosphere inside your team doesn’t allow everyone to follow your instructions, then you’re definitely not on the right path.
“I believe Alonso is among the top 3 coaches in the modern game. If a team doesn’t work with him, you need to change the players, not the coach.
“I’m convinced no coach can cope with such a squad at Real. You need to get rid of the irregular players.”
He didn’t stop there, however, further posting: “There is nothing like loyalty. 1 year ago they begged him, now they fired him because of spoiled KIDS. Xabi, you are the BEST.”
Khabib is clearly referencing how Madrid were desperate to land Alonso as manager over the summer, after all his good work in Germany with Leverkusen, only to sack him months later because of, what he says, a group of ‘spoiled kids’ that simply didn’t want to work for him.
If Khabib is right and the players are the ones to blame, Arbeloa is going to have a tough time getting the best out of them. But we’ve seen it many times before in football, once there’s a new manager in the dugout, the players suddenly perform to their best again, so it would be no surprise if that were to happen at the Bernabeu.
